When you submit an application for consideration for The Colony residency, your application will be reviewed by an admissions committee. If approved, it will be accepted as of the date it was submitted. You will receive notice of your approval at which time you can address any questions that you may have.
Once your application is approved, you will be placed on the The Colony Priority Waiting List. The goal of the Priority Waiting List is to allow those on the list to move to The Colony according to their needs and time schedules. You will be notified in writing each time an accommodation becomes available. At that time we will invite you to tour the available accommodation for a designated period of time. By the end of that time period you must express your interest in the accommodation. Once we have identified all interested parties, the accommodation will be offered according to the date in which interested parties applied.
Any application on file for more than one year must be updated and reviewed by the admissions committee prior to approval for move-in. A medical evaluation is also part of the admissions process and must be reviewed prior to approval for move-in. This is a standard form to be completed by your physician after you express interest in a specific available accommodation.
If offered, should you decide to accept an available accommodation in the Estate homes or Apartments, the following process takes place.
- You make a deposit in the amount of 10% of the market value of the apartment/home.
- You sign a Residency Agreement that identifies the location of the accommodation, the Fee Option selected, the market value of the apartment/home, discounts offered, the 10% Fee, the Entrance Fee, refunds if appropriate, and the Monthly Maintenance Fee. At this time, renovations for the specified accommodation begin.
- Once renovations are complete you have 90 days to move in. If for any reason you are unable to move in within 90 days you will begin paying the Monthly Maintenance Fee on the 1st day following the 90 day period. Exceptions to this process are reviewed on an individual basis.
- The Entrance Fee is due upon your move into your apartment/home.
- A settlement will be completed within 90 days of your move to St. Paul’s and will identify any outstanding fees or credits that are due.
