Employment Philosophy at St. Paul Homes

The sole reason for our existence is to serve the needs of the aging.  Every employee in our organization is involved in serving the people for whom the Home was established.  Working here is more than just a job; it is a commitment to the Home and the residents to provide care with compassion, respect and tender loving care.

Our desire is to provide the ultimate in care and comfort for the aging, convalescent and infirm.  We are proud of our physical plant and modern equipment.  We recognize, however, that without competent personnel, our facilities are of little value.  Clearly, every employee contributes to our growth and quality of care.  Each of us serves the resident, his family and the community.  In rendering this service, we all have the responsibility to create and maintain an atmosphere of friendliness; kindness and happiness to those we serve.

St. Paul Homes strives to keep open the channel of communication between our managers, supervisors and our employees.  We respect the right of each employee and welcome the opportunity for staff to come forward and express concerns and opinions.  The only way we can continue to grow and improve is for each of us to feel free to contribute to our common good.  Our philosophy is to do everything possible to continue and improve an excellent working relationship.

Nurse Aide Training Program

St. Paul Homes is a State approved nurse aide training facility.  The program is offered on site several times throughout the year to its employees.  The program is designed to provide students with entry-level skills necessary to perform basic nursing care, and to prepare them to assist residents with activities of daily living.  It is typically 3-4 weeks long.  Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation.

Part-time positions are guaranteed to students who successfully complete the program, with full-time opportunities arising periodically.  The next Nurse Aide Training Program is scheduled to begin in October 2008. Individuals interested in becoming a Certified Nurse Aide should submit an application for employment to the Human Resources Office.  Certain eligibility requirements apply.  For more details, please Contact Human Resources.
