Since 1867 our
mission has been to provide quality living for all those who reside at St.
Paul Homes. We are able to continue that mission because of the generous
giving of so many individuals, groups, organizations and businesses.
Your giving
helps to enhance our residents’ quality of life through programs such as
gifts for every resident for Christmas; the purchase of
specialized equipment necessary for daily care in our nursing center and
assisted living residence; social, recreational and spiritual programs both
on campus and in the community; support for those residents who are not able
to pay the total cost for their care or accommodations; and The Vision
for The Future Campaign - the Home’s most ambitious expansion
project in its’ history.
The campaign
supports the building of The Villas at St. Paul Homes caring for residents
today and in the future, as well as renovation of the Heritage
accommodating aging-in-place apartments. These apartments help to fill
a gap in our continuum of care by providing more affordable senior housing
with options to purchase services as needed or desired.
There are many ways to support
St. Paul Homes’ mission. Several are outlined on the following pages. For
personal information about opportunities to give to St. Paul Homes contact

Each spring St.
Paul Homes conducts an Appeal for the Good Samaritan Fund. This is a request
to all of our friends and partners to provide funds to assist with the costs
of residents' care.
Each year St.
Paul Homes provides every resident of The Villas, Heritage and Ridgewood with Christmas
gifts. This usually is a list with nearly 300 names on it. The gifts are
wrapped by volunteers and distributed by Santa and his helpers on the day
before Christmas.
For some
residents, these are in addition to gifts they receive from family and
friends. But for others, these gifts from the Home are the only ones that
they have to open for Christmas.
Each year the
Christmas Appeal offers our friends the opportunity to contribute toward the
hundreds of gifts that we provide for the residents. If
there are any contributions remaining after the gifts are purchased, they
are used in other ways to make sure that the residents
have a Merry Christmas and for special programs for the new year.
Gifts given in
memory or honor of others is a fitting way to acknowledge family members and
friends. Often, gifts are given in memory of a person on their passing.
Honor gifts are a way to recognize an achievement or acknowledge someone on
a special day or for a special reason.
Mother’s Day is
a traditional time to recognize mothers and grandmothers with a gift in
their memory or honor. Honor gifts are also given to mark weddings,
graduations and special birthdays.
When gifts are
given in memory or honor to St. Paul Homes, a card is sent to the honoree or
in the case of a memory gift, to a loved one, to advise that a gift has been
made.
Gifts to recognize the special
service of St. Paul Homes staff members can be made to the Saluting
Excellent Service Education Award fund. This scholarship fund assists staff
members seeking to increase or enhance their skills with the ultimate goal
of better caring for and serving our residents.
St. Paul Homes
has completed its largest expansion in the Home’s over
135-year history. The two-phase project included construction of The Villas,
a new 192-bed
nursing center that provides skilled nursing care as well as memory support for Alzheimer’s residents in need of skilled care or assisted
living. This first phase of the project was completed in April 2005.
During phase
two the front of the pre-existing health center has been renovated to provide 80
aging-in-place apartments. This
cost effective housing option allows residents to maintain their independence
in a setting that allows them to add various personal care services as
the need arises. Residents only pay for the services that they need,
when they need them. The Heritage opened in July 2006.
To provide at
least $3 million of the $30 million
cost of the project, the Home launched the Vision for the Future
campaign. This effort seeks gifts and commitments–payable over up to five
years—from individuals, corporations, foundations and churches. All gifts will be used toward
the two-phase project.
Have you
considered including St. Paul Homes in your estate planning? Bequests may be
made to the Home through a will, either providing a specific amount, a
percentage of your estate or the residual (what is left after other
disbursements have been made).
St. Paul Homes
can also provide information regarding a variety of Life Income Plans from
charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, etc. These plans
provide a significant tax benefit and income for life to the donors in
exchange for the gift.
Those who advise St. Paul Homes
that the Home is included in one’s estate plans (either through a bequest or
a life income plan) are eligible for membership in the Legacy Society. The
Legacy Society recognizes those who have included the Home in their estate
plans, allowing us to thank the donor and to learn about the donor’s
interests and intentions regarding their plans.
