The Villas at St. Paul Homes opened in April 2005. The new 192-bed Villas provides nursing care and
rehabilitation and expanded Alzheimer’s and dementia care services as well
as an expanded Senior FITness program.
The features and benefits of the new health center include:

The layout of the building provides for better flow increasing resident and
family convenience as well as the efficiency of the staff. Service
corridors are designed to decrease the disruption caused by delivery of
meals, laundry, housekeeping equipment and supplies.
The Villas features Friendship Commons, a gathering place for spiritual,
social and recreational activities; a hair care salon, and a private family
dining room.
Five neighborhoods received names aligned with the décor of the building –
The Meadows, The Orchards, The Springs, The Willows and The Gardens.
Neighborhoods house up to 48 residents and combine private and semi-private
resident rooms along with common areas such as great rooms, kitchenettes,
residents’ dining rooms and spas. |

| Outdoor areas include a beautifully landscaped courtyard off the main
entrance, as well as two enclosed courtyards, several porches and a patio
overlooking the west. |

The expansion of existing services includes enhanced rehabilitation
services, expanded facilities for the Senior FITness program and enhanced
memory support care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other related
dementias. The
Villas is located next to the old health center and will share dietary,
purchasing, housekeeping, maintenance, volunteers and spiritual services.
Residents will have easy access to rehabilitation services, the Senior
FITness Center, a medical clinic, chapel and a Bistro for snacks and light
meals with visitors.

Nursing Care
Skilled Nursing Care offers a level of
care that must be supervised by a Registered Nurse. Examples of skilled
nursing care are: getting intravenous injections, tube feeding, and changing
sterile dressings on a wound. The nursing staff at St. Paul Homes works
closely with the resident’s physician to coordinate a plan of care designed
to meet each resident’s needs. A coordinated effort between nursing, dietary
services, rehabilitation and activities personnel is put forth to maintain
the highest level of independence for each resident. Care is ordered by a
physician and supervised by a registered or licensed nurse. Certified nurse
assistants provide assistance with activities of daily living.

Alzheimer’s
Care
The Alzheimer’s Special Therapy Unit is
designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory impairments.
Here, residents live in dignity in a safe and secure environment. Every
effort is made to allow residents to maintain his or her highest level of
function. We strive to promote quality of life, building on the residents’
strengths to accommodate their needs.

Respite Care
Respite care is temporary or periodic
care provided at St. Paul Homes which gives the caregiver the opportunity to
rest or take some time off. residents are welcomed to stay as little
as one day or as long as 30 days. Respite care includes all the
general services and access to
specialized services and
special programs.

Rehabilitation
St. Paul Homes partners with Alliance
Rehab to provide a full scope of therapy services including occupational,
physical and speech therapy. In addition to traditional therapies our
rehabilitation program offers Senior
Fitness, a wellness program that enhances the quality of life through
fitness. Our complete therapy program is designed to restore residents to
self-sufficient functioning consistent with his/her capability.

Hospice Care
At St. Paul Homes we are committed to
provide meaning, richness of life and health care services for our residents
and families. To enhance our services, St. Paul Homes has partnered with
Family Hospice and Palliative Care to improve end-of-life care for residents
with life limiting illnesses.
Open Arms combines
the traditional care offered at St. Paul Homes with the expertise of Family
Hospice and Palliative Care. Its purpose is to enhance the quality of life
by companioning with the resident and their family on the journey at life’s
end.
