The Villas at St. Paul's opened in April 2005. The new 192-bed Villas provides nursing care and rehabilitation and expanded Alzheimer’s and dementia care services as well as an expanded Fitness program.

The features and benefits of the new health center include:

  • More privacy for residents

  • A residential environment

  • Plenty of outdoor areas

The layout of the building provides for better flow increasing resident and family convenience as well as the efficiency of the staff.  Service corridors are designed to decrease the disruption caused by delivery of meals, laundry, housekeeping equipment and supplies.

The Villas features Friendship Commons, a gathering place for spiritual, social and recreational activities; a hair care salon, and a private family dining room.

Five neighborhoods received names aligned with the décor of the building – The Meadows, The Orchards, The Springs, The Willows and The Gardens.  Neighborhoods house up to 48 residents and combine private and semi-private resident rooms along with common areas such as great rooms, kitchenettes, residents’ dining rooms and spas.

Outdoor areas include a beautifully landscaped courtyard off the main entrance, as well as two enclosed courtyards, several porches and a patio overlooking the west.

The expansion of existing services includes enhanced rehabilitation services, expanded facilities for the The Fitness program and enhanced memory support care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other related dementias.   The Villas is located next to the old health center and will share dietary, purchasing, housekeeping, maintenance, volunteers and spiritual services.  Residents will have easy access to rehabilitation services, The Fitness Center, a medical clinic, chapel and a Bistro for snacks and light meals with visitors.

Nursing Care

Skilled Nursing Care offers a level of care that must be supervised by a Registered Nurse. Examples of skilled nursing care are: getting intravenous injections, tube feeding, and changing sterile dressings on a wound. The nursing staff at St. Paul's works closely with the resident’s physician to coordinate a plan of care designed to meet each resident’s needs. A coordinated effort between nursing, dietary services, rehabilitation and activities personnel is put forth to maintain the highest level of independence for each resident. Care is ordered by a physician and supervised by a registered or licensed nurse. Certified nurse assistants provide assistance with activities of daily living.
